PNP. cork intact. color light gold. nose dominated by orange rind. swishing shows acid backbone and still significant RS, but seems to lean more toward acid now than sweetness. sipping this seems more like a rich auslese and definitely a spatlese in a heavier style. fun to drink, but will prefer this with a spicy dish to offset the sweetness.

Popped and poured. Color gold. This has a lot more RS and is less evolved than most preceding bottles and of my other 2001's. Drinking well but will give remaining bottles several years.

popped and poured. color golden. nose showing mostly mature riesling fruit with a hint of oxidation and mustiness. on the palate this seemed a little further along than previous bottles, but i think had a touch of cork.

This is very good. Nose shows aged Riesling fruit, and the cheek clinging finish goes on for >1 min. There is real density on the palate which shows intense RS with slightly more intense acidity that keeps it fresh and not heavy. Drinking beautifully tonight.
