  • Immediate aromas of fresh tart mixed berries (I get almost fruit roll-up like notes) along with pink/purple flowers and fresh roses. Underneath it all there is some minerality (like dried asphalt on a hot summer day) and hints of oak. The palate is a medium body with medium + acid and medium tannin, good structure and not overpowering at this stage. Fresh berries and tart acid and tannin come together on the palate in great balance, with fruit still persisting on the finish, along with some oak that is beginning to show itself. I have heard about how great this bottling is and have had the barbaresco previously. I 100% agree this is a great value and one of my favorite young Langhe's. I just love the vibrancy and fruit here, tough to find in this price range. 90-91 and can probably be great for a few more years but no need to wait on this, these are meant to be drunk young.

  • Pop n pour, bright fruit, perfume, feminine. Soft red fruits (raspberry, cherry, strawberry), red petals, hints of anise on the nose. "Sweet" tannins on the palate that transition into a sour dried cherry finish with earthy, black tea notes. As Mrs. Knurd and I drank through the bottle, more blackberry and wild berry (mixed-berry) notes started to develop, with some fig jam and a strong, graphite and tar but almost iron level of minerality. Oak starts to show a bit as well, with some distinct candied red fruit and cherry root beer in addition to the anise. More complexity than I remembered or was expecting from a Langhe, and definitely hitting all areas of the palate with about 40 / 60 acid / tannin ratio. Da Knurd family was really impressed with this one, so upping my previous evaluation to an A (94) especially considering I got 3 bottles for 20 clams each (FS w/ library pass from WL).

  • The "Nebbiolo delle Langhe" is the cooperative's base wine. The grapes are harvested in various vineyards around Barbaresco. The soils are clayey and calcareous. Fermentation takes place in steel, and aging in oak barrels for 6 months. It has a garnet color, very intense, with floral, fruity, and spicy notes. A wine for everyday enjoyment with an excellent value for money.

  • Junjay is right, strawberries and licorice-more-than-anise notes that are bright and clean, followed by earthy notes of white pepper and leather. Not so much balance as a sharp line on the palate where the texture changes from acid to tannin, but otherwise very easy drinking. Picked up 3 at a hair over $20 from WL (plus FS with LP). Glad I did. Feels like the masses are right on this one, B+ (89) eval.

  • Strawberry laces and parmar violets offset by ample acidity, tannins and white pepper. Don't listen to me though, not the first drink of the night.
