Medium Acidity High Alcohol Medium(-) Tannin Medium Bodied Medium Finish
Medium (+) Intensity - Raspberry, Cranberry, Red Cherry, Blueberry, Violet, Lavender, Tomato Leaf, Earth, Black Tea, Vanilla, Cinnamon
Full of red berries, floral and a bit herbaceous, got some earthiness too, the sweet spice is present but not oaky at all. Silky smooth mouthfeel, extremely soft tannins, very easy drinking, versatile to pair with food, excellent value, I won't say this is a party wine, but it's definitely something you'd consider to serve at a banquet. Ruby in the glass. Beautiful translucency typical of Willamette Pinot Noir.
Aromas of fresh raspberry, strawberry, and some earth.
Light-medium on the palate. Underripe raspberries and strawberries are quickly followed by flavors of mushroom and earthiness. However, something does need to be said about the smoky undertone, which muddles the earthy flavors of OR PN.
Finish was a tad short with that same earthy/smoky funk. Tannins were a bit on the harsher and sharper side. Acidity was a bit hidden, too, all culminating in a slightly "misshapen" wine.
This delicate PN, although supposedly usually elegant, showed potential marred by what I can only describe as qualities bestowed by smoke. Without it, the wine would be a beautiful, solid 90 pts for me and a great QPR. Nevertheless, 86 pts for the 2020 vintage.
