Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Saturday, December 09, 2000 Rich yellow straw color with vanilla, citrus, almond and oak nose. On the palate, the citrus manifested itself as bright lemon and oak and vanilla bean flavors were complimented with some mineral notes. A rich, flavorful wine with good mouthfeel. Drinking well with more time available. With lemon shrimp and goat cheese risotto. (Used the wine in the risotto.) 12/9/00.
Saturday, March 03, 2001 Neither Deneen nor I tasted it. Took it to dinner at the Hofers with Rafe and Lou.
Thursday, May 03, 2001 Nice straw color with nose of citrus, butter and vanilla. Good balance with flavors of lemon and vanilla. With chicken moutarde. 5/3/01. (Notes made several days after consumption.) Wine always a good standard.
Friday, June 22, 2001 Color continues to deepen into dark gold. Nose of butterscotch and citrus. Flavors of butterscotch, citrus, apricot (?) and toast. A slight oxidation. We need to finish this wine. With leeks and ham in cream sauce 6/22/01.
Sunday, July 08, 2001 missing during inventory 01
Friday, August 17, 2001 Color continues to deepen as it ages. Nose is now more butterscotch and buttered popcorn than anything. Fruit is starting to fade, but still gives some pineapple and apple flavors with a little citrus. Loads of butterscotch and butter on the finish. It tastes fatter and flabbier now than a several months ago. With chicken salad (with mushrooms, almonds and cumin) 8/17/01.
Friday, October 19, 2001 Turning a darker straw color with more pronounced oak notes. Need to prink as it will not improve any and is starting to head down hill. With fresh baguette and shrimp in mustard. 10/19/01.
Tuesday, November 06, 2001 One of the most enjoyable Jordans I’ve had in a long time. Apparently, some bottle variation here as well (as with the Wintergreen chard. ‘98), since these have not been as enjoyable lately. Buttery toast and biscuit with lemon and citrus, and yes, some oak and vanilla. Nice acidity and fruit - quite nice for ‘97. The oak is not as apparent in this as in some of the sister bottles. With wilted spinach, bacon and goat cheese salad and chicken fricassee. Vanilla and biscuity flavors stood out when tasted with biscuit topped with a smige of pumpkin preserves from Villandry. 11/6/01.
Thursday, December 06, 2001 Rich yellow color. Nose and flavors of pineapple, oak, vanilla and perhaps, nuttiness. Notes written several days (10) after tasting. 11/01.
Saturday, February 02, 2002 Dark straw color. Nose of vanilla and oak, maybe a little citrus. Nice fruit on the palatte with citrus and then just a suddenly, vanilla and oak. It’s amazing how much either I’ve become sensitive to oak or that this wine has increased in oakiness. Perhaps a little of both, but certainly this wine shows how things can change. Our last of this wine....we were a little tired of it. With salmon on Saturday and leftovers on Sunday. In front of the super bowl....Pats beat the Rams in huge upset with field goal in the final second (20-17).
