Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Wednesday, November 19, 2003 Pale straw color. Honey, floral, pear and toast on the nose. Richly honeyed and white flowers on the attack. Lemon grass and citrus in the midpalate. A longish finish with a little bit of heat and too much toast with a lingering bit of apricot. Yet, the wine has a nice balance of acidity and roundness. Rich, full mouthfeel. With enough time, the wood may fade. 13.8% alc. With sauteed chicken in a mustard-cider sauce.
Thursday, March 04, 2004 Pale yellow gold. Honey, honeysuckle, apricots, white flowers, anise on the nose and palate. However, the palate is not as broad as the bouquet. Much more of a rich dried apricot flavor on the palate. Good structure - acidic backbone fleshed out with some oak balanced with fruit. Short midpalate. Finish of fruit and some toast from the oak with ok length. However, it is oh so faint of a Viognier when compared with La Dorian. With chicken breasts smothered with mushroom and leeks in a cream sauce.
