deep purple. Aromas of black berry and vanilla that are echoed on the palate. Very juicy with great acidity, silky mouthfeel. Medium finish, really liked this.

An approachable, well-made Barbera wine but not as massive and complex as in previous vintages. The wine is sourced from two vineyard sites, the ‘Bricco delle Viole’ in the municipality of Barolo and the ‘Bricco Bertone’ in the municipality of Sinio. Maturation: sixteen months in large Slavonian oak casks and six further months in bottle prior to release. Color: medium intense ruby-red. Bouquet: fruit driven nose revealing scents of black cherry, blueberry, violets and hints of leather and tobacco. On the palate: a juicy wine with a gentle character displaying lush elderberry and plum fruit, an elegant texture and well-behaved tannins. Finish: harmonious aftertaste. Drinking window: now and over the next three-four years. Certainly a good Barbera wine, but I had higher expectations given the renown of the Vajra winery.

Full bodied dark. Black fruits, earth and a touch of beef blood. Incredibly food friendly palate. Deep and rich and layered. Bakers chocolate, stone fruits, hoisin and super clean plums. We had this with Korean/ Mexican food (sooki and mimi) and it was a grand slam. Outrageously gorgeous, especially for barbera.
