Disagree with the drinking window -just opened this bottle tonight 1/3/13 - pleasantly surprised - golden color, full body with toasy oakiness- nose unusually absent

Capt M describes this very nicely, though my take is slightly different. This has a pretty reticent nose, while the body is medium-full and quite oily (I would use oily versus viscous in this context). Indeed, the oiliness in this approximates that in Caymus' Conundrum. There is butter, too, but on my palate it is of a pleasing, quasi-artificial type with toasty oak. There is surprising complexity for a $10 Monterey chardonnay, making the QPR on this excellent. I'm not sure if I like this as much as, for instance, Chateau St. Jean's comparably-priced standard Sonoma chardonnay, but it's always nice to have very good, affordable options!

Medium golden color. Full bodied wine, very viscous; that earns this wine an extra point. Other than that, it is not too complex. The buttery characteristics dominate a lot. Not as fruity or flowery as burgundies. The oak is medium, which says a lot for a California chardonnay. Rich butterscotch flavor, thick creamy, with additional scents of vanilla, second tear molasses, and third tear pears. Well done in fact, with a California signature that not over does it in oak. I just wish it had more fruit rather than spice. The cream is delicious. Do not drink it too cold.
