Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 92 points

  • This one came in a bit warm here in FL, last October with one of our late summer heatwaves. Kept chilled in the 56 deg cellar since then. Pnp'd for friends this afternoon. Right from the pnp it is quite good. Needs little to no air. Beautiful black fruit, lead pencil, smokey oak etc, on the nose. Nice medium+ weight (at least) in the mouth. Wonderful, ripe blue/black fruit, great balance to the wine overall. One of the better qpr's in all of Napa for a $65 wine. This is a beautiful vintage with wonderful acidity. Highly recommended. Slow ox'd over 3-4 hours and it gets a tad smoother and better. 92 at the start, 94 at the finish, 93 for the average........

Addendum: Nearly 6 hours in with the slow ox and this one develops quite a bit of cassis, and chocolate. More power, too. Great acidity. Need to upgrade my score to a 94 right now. It's almost gone, yet I feel it's not quite done, yet. More years will yield greater integration.....
