2005 vintage, gifted by a great friend who warned it might be past its time but knows I will experiment with those. Pours with a dusty reddish hue, almost zinfandel-like. Or Port-like? Synthetic cork shows full integrity. Long legs linger around entirety of glass. Aroma says "I am almost gone" but taste is rare I say refined, some tobacco and maybe overripe blackberry. Playful snap of tannin in the back of mouth. Will certainly finish the bottle. Would not sit on it any longer for sure, but perfectly enjoyable weekday drinker. Would not unleash it with a flourish at a dinner party, as those accustomed to "drinkable nows" will recoil in horror. Definitely a credit to Kent and his crew back in the day IMO.

Just not my thing. Tasted side by side the 2005 Paul Hobbs Kick Ranch Syrah. Where as the PH took a little while to open up the Rosenblum came out screaming with huge aromatics but then faded quickly with a thin mid palate and short finish. Where as the PH continued to build throughout the evening, the Rosenblum was a bit of a flash in the pan. Not bad, certainly drinkable, finished the whole bottle, BUT the PH was superior in every dimension.....

Heavy, overextracted overtly fruity and unrefined. Saved the bottle and drank the second day and it was much improved. This bottle was purchased at the winery and cellared since. I think time will improve this wine which was made in a style that is thankfully now out of style.

Oxidized but still showed that there was a rich wine underneath that.
