Domaine des Malandes dinner with Amandine Marchive (Chicago, IL): I'm not too sure what to make of this. There were some unpleasant aromas on the nose, which I think were due to an unfortunately slightly sketchy glass. But I did pick out some elements I liked -- mostly a mild lemon tone, and some interesting beeswax note as well. The palate was much better than the nose, with surprising acidity for the vintage, a nice smokiness, and a rounded, slightly oily texture. I think at the end of the day, I prefer my chablis on the younger side, but this was a little hard to evaluate given the slightly questionable state of the nose.
