Medium ruby-garnet in color. Medium but delicate nose of earth, forest floor, pine needles, cranberries, light red cherries, cocoa, and a mild pinch of black pepper and herbs. Light bodied, medium extraction, dry yet very juicy, and spot on Pinot. Palate pretty much matches the nose. A combination of firm and plush tannins brings in a bit of earl gray tea and the structure needed to carry into the long finish. The finish switches between black and earl gray tea notes combined with minerals, a bit of cocoa, and a bit of tart red fruits. Light forest floor, earth, and pine needles persist for minutes after the sip.
I am pretty sure this is the first time I have consumed a Marin County wine, and this did not disappoint. Compared to many other of the Dutton-Goldfield wines we consumed at our tasting, this was one of the few ones that had enough extraction for my liking. Putting the price aside, this is an outstanding Pinot Noir.

Tasted at winery 3/2/22. Least favorite of five single vineyards poured.
