The James Berry vineyard is well regarded in the Paso Robles region and for good reason. This example is simply delicious. We've visited Paso many times and have downed many a Paso wine. Due to the very warm climate there, the wines can get a bit big and sometimes overly jammy and hot. Not this one. Ripe black cherries, a hint of licorice, red currants, and a medium amount of acidity. The tannins are very present as this is still a young wine but they are not overly aggressive but could definitely soften with some more time.

The middle plate is supple and so well formed. Bramble berries, white pepper, chocolate pudding, black olives and dried earth. The body is full and the tannins are polished, and noticeable. This is infanticide. I love the length and lift through the ripeness. Almost floral and can cause one to ponder (not in a pejorative way). Drink 2026 - 2046.

Terrific Syrah. Could give it another year or two but so great now, pop and pour.

Dark purple/magenta colored. Some petrol -- balanced with dark fruit. Northern rhone in style
