  I’m not a Brunello connoisseur, but this was a phenomenal, beautiful ruby-colored wine.
  
  Smoother on the nose than Barolo with a more potent earth-based aroma, but equally as fruit-forward. Black cherry, raspberries, sweet herbs, and solid minerality.
  
  Really, really smooth tannins, fairly low acidity.

  Notes of blackberries, raspberries, smoke and oregano. Medium-plus body. Acidity is medium-plus. Tannins are medium-plus with a powdery, fine character. Overall, the wine is well balanced and tasting great.

  Decanted 4 hours. Medium ruby. Pronounced nose of black cherries, clay, herbs, coffee, leather, and soil. Silky texture and layered flavours. Powerful but not brutish. There’s a healthy charge of tannin on the finish. Very good freshness even with 15% alcohol. Approachable now with air and a good chunk of protein but will be even better with extended cellaring. It has the structure to age for at least a decade if not more. Very glad to find this at clearance pricing. I’ll put away the remaining bottles and revisit in 5 years.

  This was a great Brunello. It will probably be even better if aged another couple of years. I still have a 3L bottle in the cellar and will wait until 2025.
