  • Drunk last night with dinner, notes from memory. Very dark for a merlot. Intense nose of black cherry, plum, something herbal (oregano?). Palate follows, perhaps over the top intense without quite being sweet; fairly rough tannins on the back end. A sort of cola note, the tannins, and the general intensity make me wonder if there is Petit Verdot or something in the blend. Bottle doesn't say. This is a merlot hater's / cab lover's merlot, no softness, swinging for the fences. Not sure what an expert or purist would think, but it's terrific fun to drink.
