  • Shafer1994 is spot on. Dark fruits, clean, almost pure, precise, black berries, oak, smoke, mineral. Very young, classy, needs time. Has a potential for a 94-95 point mark.
I deducted a point or two for being too “generic” and having a “contrived” feel - too much enology while not being bad per se, doesn’t inspire either.

  • Very dark, almost black color. Nose a bit reluctant. Very young wine. Dark fruit dominates the palate, black currant. Strong tannins. Medium finish, not yet ready. Will take 1 or 2 more years to unfold.

  • Retail $50. Heavy, heavy bottle. "Nero d’Avola, Petit Verdot, Syrah, and other grapes." I have always been impressed by the way Donnafugata has championed responsible practices and have been stewards of the land, but this bottle is pretty darned heavy and, well, that is not good. But the wine? It is quite nice. Dark in the glass with oodles of dark fruit and spicy notes, followed by a surprisingly austere palate characterized by a near-exceedingly tart palate. Very Good.
