Wow, stellar complexity in this wine. My first impression was of chalk, followed by subtle fruit and overtones of coffee and smoke. There's a lot going on in this wine. Definitely more terroir than in many Zins -- the fruit takes a back seat to other flavors here. More complex than the later vintages which seemed a little more fruit-forward. Perhaps my impression of these wines is affected by having toured the vineyard, but I feel like the wines exhibit a great sense of the hillside soil where they are grown.

No detailed note here. (dinner w/ M&L) Lovely aromas of deep dark red fruit, now rounded and focused. Dark red berry, almost jammy now round, deep on the full palate. It is starting to show signs of slightly past its prime I think. Still very good but a drink now for sure.

91+ (No detailed tasting notes) (Dinner for 6) Great dark color - deep and rich nose. Deep concentration of dark red fruit w/o being jammy. Elegant, focused and supple; full on palate. Good acidic balance and background integrated tannins. Good food wine. Great QPR
