  • 2020 Bodegas Bilbainas Rioja Viña Pomal Blanco Fermentado en Barrica, La Rioja Alta, La Rioja, Spain.

    Blend: 70% Viura, 30% Malvasía
    from Finca Paceta on the banks of the Ebro with deep, fresh
    alluvial soils and lots of pebbles.
    De-stemmed. Light (6-hr) maceration on skin. Then pressed.
    Free running must is fermented in new oak barrels
    (50/50 American and French) at 15-18 °C.
    Matured 4 months on lees, with gentle stirrings.
    12.5% Abv.
    Background: Viña Pomal is the flagship brand of Bodegas Bilbaínas
    founded in Haro in 1901.

    Winemaker: Diego Pinilla

    A(ccuracy)=2: Silvery lemon/lime. Spicy aromatics.
    B(alance)=2: Ripe fruit with adequate structure.
    C(omplexity)=2: Citrus, white fruits, camomile, saline minerality.
    D(epth)=1: Round mouthfeel. Even palate and finish.

    Wine Tally Score [2,2,2,1] = 7/10

    Delectable and tremendous value.
