Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 95 points

  • Decided to drink it next to the 2019 Lewis Napa cab to see how they compare. A nice vintage of this wine but not worth twice the price of the Napa cab in my opinion. Purple fruit - currants, blackberry, dark cherry, and some plum. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice rich flavors of cassis, baking spices, cocoa/chocolate, some oak, and a graphite component. Fairly long finish. Decanted for four hours and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time but drinking well after the decant despite its youth. A little more depth/concentration than the Napa cab but also richer/more extracted. I don’t see how Suckling only rated this wine 90 points. In my opinion, it’s closer to Dunnuck’s 95 rating. For me, 94 points for both the Reserve and the Napa cab at this youthful stage. 100% cab.
