Well made barbera with intense cherry flavour. A great pasta wine, but for me the alcohol at 15% is a bit of a draw back. A bit too much heat. Still, really pleasant.

Brilliant deep translucent magenta’sh- fresh red fruited and floral nose along with dusty garrigue - sneakily tannic and of course quite tart - lovely now for its celebration of freshness and vibrancy - structure there to support melding over time into something differently lovely

Obviously developing. Expressive nose, flowers, black, blue, fruits. Unbalanced at the moment, high alcohol, good finish. Needs many years ahead, I am not going to open again such a fresh wine.
Popped and poured; no formal notes. The 2021 Burlotto Barbera d’Alba “Aves” is developing; redolent of impossibly dark berry fruits with some purple flowers and earthy clay-like minerals. Medium tannin and medium+ acid. High alcohol. The finish is long and has a bit of a salmiakki thing on the finish that’s really nice. This is a really good wine right now but it’s undeniably primary and I think it’s holding something back. I won’t touch another bottle for at least a few years. Drink now with patience and through 2036.

This is one of my favorite vintages for this wine as I feel the variety has more of a voice than I typically find. Like CCT, I find the base Barbera (year in and out) to my liking/preference. This has some more substance, one could say, but it's not any sense of oak (overt or otherwise) that gets it there - which is a big win for me. CCT's note is dead on, and yes, this is likely to improve from here as it clearly has the material. At around $33, it's recommended; better to HOLD for a couple of years.
