  • The nose is fairly restrained with notes of bing cherry, red plum, graphite, moist soil, and dried fruit. With lots of swirling it develops orange rind and floral notes, and over time gets sweeter. It’s full bodied with reasonably juicy acid and taught, dense black tea tannin. The balance is good, though the tannin dominates the mouthfeel and dries the finish quickly. There’s a lot of density here that five plus years of cellaring should unwind nicely to reveal more complexity. Flavors include black cherry, black plum, clove, garrigue, black pepper, licorice, and scorched earth. This seems primed to be more relaxed and revealing with three to five years of cellaring.
