Popped and poured, in glass 30 minutes. Aromas are typical wolftrap, but a bit more rancid, showing rotting ground beef, complete with some sulfuric notes. Underlying that is a bit of a sweet candied cherry, but it's hard to find beneath all the rotting flesh. The palate is soft and light bodied, with some mild pleasing cherry flavors, some twigs, and not much of the beef notion. The palate is actually pretty tasty. Things take a substantial turn on the finish where it gets nearly nasty and hard to stomach. Everything about the way my mouth feels after swallowing is unpleasant. The flavors are pretty foul, the acid is out of whack, and my tongue is a little puckering. More than anything it's the rancid fruit covering rancid beef coupled with spice and pepper that is just completely off putting. The worst part is it doesn't go away; it just lingers for several minutes. After a while I might want to throw up. This was always my least favorite Wolftrap, and the last 4 years has not done it well.

Limited on aromatics but showing black pepper and smokiness. The dark fruit is starting to fade as I think this is on the decline. Smooth mouthfeel and very easy to drink as almost all tannin has disappeared.

Somewhat of a closed nose with a little bacon fat and dark fruit. Full bodied, meaty, creamy, and juicy mouthfeel. Dark cherry and smoked meat flavors. Refreshing finish.

I drank this a week or two ago. I thought I noted on it at the time, but I guess I forgot.
I recall that it was an okay wine, but a little heavy and musty for my palate. I like earthy, but this one took earthy to a level beyond. I can't say it was a bad wine, just not up my alley.
