  • This was opened following two other Becker '20ers trocken—over a long weekend. 13% abv. AP 01. NOSE: Within its own frame of considerable restraint, *it is flamboyantly scented*—of bruised peach and grilled lemon. Rigidly mineral. Adjustment leads to the discovery of ambient, sticky, gingerbread, filled with roasted figs and nuts. MOUTH: Ceramic grip. Heady with retral aromatic payload. Glycerin rinsed from glacial scree. Transparently passive breezeway. Pastoral ornament of pear juice. Chalky. Oily springtime herb shoots. Marascha, tangerine, red chili. Stone tea. Paired with short ribs inspired by onions and Puglia.
—For drinking in 2023, this ranks right alongside the regular Kabinett and Spätlese, even allowing for its greater utility with spicy food. It will have a general advantage ten years hence.
—At the foot of the 19 ha Walkenberg are old mills where fabrics were once milled into felt. This is where the name comes from.
