  • Well, it’s 15%abv, and whilst a little cumbersome there’s enough fruit to cover the tannin and no heat. Full but balance. That said, it’s not about elegance or freshness or finesse, and I won’t buy a second bottle, but in a restaurant it made a decent enough off-list purchase for some pasta and veal. Dark fruited, some structure and weight. Unsurprisingly better with food. An enjoyable post-prandial grappa put the abv in context. ***

  • One of these cases where a hyper modernist producer can make fascinating wines at the edge of the genre, but the core level wines are just not that good. Heavy, black fruits with only slightest touch of Rioja brightness and acidity. Mocha tones. Just not enjoyable.
