Part of a mostly Zin and Pizza night w/ my wine group. I really enjoyed this much more than my previous bottle (18 months ago). All 8 of us had it as our 1st or 2nd favorite of the night, with 3 having it as their favorite. The 2015 Turley was the only wine that as a group, we liked better. Do they still make this wine? I don't see any vintages past the 2019 on Ridge's website. NOTE: the non-zins were a Myriad Cabernet Sauvignon Rose, which was our opening wine, and the 2015 The Farm Winery Touchy Feely (75% Grenache, 25% Syrah) as our final wine. The other Zin was a 2021 Beau Vigne Haypress Grist Vineyard.

Very fruit forward, with notes of black pepper in the background. Actually less "Zinfandel-ish" than I was expecting. The 25% Petite Sirah plays a major role in the taste. I liked it, but would probably pursue other Ridge Zins before buying this again. That said, I have 2 more bottles, and maybe in a year, I'll think better about this wine. I shared it with some friends over lunch, while having takeout Pastrami sandwiches with deli mustard.

Monte Bello Visit: 75% Zinfandel, 25% Petite Sirah. This was banging - a fun and super engaging wine. On the nose - cough syrup or maybe ribena. Our guide described it as "pepper jam" which I totally got - this is an unapologetically American wine, it wears a cowboy hat and cowboy boots but it's also very polite and cleans up after itself. I would drink this again.

Super intense Zin...wow. Very dark fruit, tannins are full bore. Definitely one of the deeper, darker Ridge Zins that i've ever tried.

Ridge Monte Bello with Leon (Ridge Vineyards, Santa Cruz, CA): Deep ruby. 25% petit sirah. Super deep ripe, almost confected PS fruit. Black raspberry.
15.5%
Full bodied. Some black pepper. Elevated acid. Elevated tannins (plush). “Cowboy hat Zin.”
Pepper and raspberry.
Fair bit of oak but well integrated. Heavy but good example of the style. PS more than Zin.
