Very Good+ I love what many of the ancient varieties bring to the table. This mid-weight red had a modestly feral, wild edge to it. Some dark fruits and warming spices, but leaning more to Etna than the Rhone, with a zest and savory quality. Most importantly, it paired great with our pasta amatriciana.

Remarkable. A perfect balance of fruit and acid, structure and depth. Accessible enough for any old weeknight but graceful enough for a nice Friday evening meal. Loved this!

Of great interest as I’ve not previously had a pure Cesanese wine. Hard to put my mind around because so much was unfamiliar. It’s mostly black fruit with some red fruits in the mouth - maybe not quite ripe red plum. It’s also earthy and rustic which means it should be a great grilled sausages and roasted vegetables wine. I’m looking forward to trying that. Kind of gritty tannin that is appealing and an acidity that is different - not sharp or vivid but, instead, rising up powerfully throughout. I’ll update this note when I try the wine day two. I expect it to be compelling, but we’ll see.
