  • The Taurasi Macchia dei Goti 2018 from Antonio Caggiano is a standout example of the exceptional quality that can be achieved in the Taurasi region. This wine displays a deep ruby color with a garnet hue, indicating its maturity and complexity. It has a medium high viscosity (14.5% abv ).

On the nose, aromas of ripe black fruits, dried herbs, and hints of leather and tobacco mingle together, creating a rich and inviting bouquet.

On the palate, the Taurasi Macchia dei Goti 2018 showcases a firm structure with well-integrated tannins and a balanced acidity. The flavors of black cherry, plum, and dark chocolate are complemented by notes of cedar, earth, and spice, adding layers of depth and complexity to the wine. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and refinement.

Overall, the Taurasi Macchia dei Goti 2018 is a wine of great finesse and sophistication. It is a perfect expression of the Aglianico grape, showcasing the unique terroir of the Taurasi region. This wine would pair beautifully with hearty meat dishes, such as roasted lamb or beef stew, and will continue to evolve and improve with age. Antonio Caggiano has crafted a truly exceptional wine with the Taurasi Macchia dei Goti 2018, one that will undoubtedly impress even the most discerning of palates.PM 90

  • Bottle 1362g. Briefly decanted. Aromas of moderate intensity, red fruit, black fruit, herbs, dark earth, a whiff of wood and varnish. Dry, with elevated piquant acidity, elevated grippy, grainy tannins, full-bodied, 14.5 abv. Still very youthful. Hell, I'll put it back in the bottle and try it again tomorrow.
Day 2: Aromas more open, smells savory, salty and earthy, but less fruity. Tannins seem a bit smoother but still grippy, and the acidity better integrated. Savory, dark and somehow rich; the alcohol is not obvious.
