  • Fruit Day - Cork broke and dissolved in attempted removal. Decanted through a sieve (about 1 1/2 tablespoons lost due to sediment) for 1/2 an hour and then returned to cleaned bottle. Immediate assessment on decanting - pale garnet in colour in the glass with just a touch of bricking. Nose is beautiful with fulsome mint, ripe red and blue fruit, anise, newish leather and a little vanilla. There’s a bit of funk creeping in on the initial assessment. On the palate it showcases the fruit and mint immediately with some leather and licorice following. Medium tannins that are resolved but present and with medium acidity. The finish is medium in length with the licorice, leather and some spice along with the fruit. It’s pretty darn good and is at it’s peak in my opinion.
2 hours later - Funk disappeared and it’s just plain delicious. Still keeping the fruit and mint and developing a bit more length on the finish.
