Initially, super ripe blueberry and black cherries. Now decanted for 1.5h. Fairly mute aromas of ripe cherries, bubble gum and herbs. Palate w ripe cherries, herbs, some minerals, and some bubblegum. Medium body w medium tannins on midpalate. Good acids. The wine is ripe but there's a fair amount of structure, particularly with the tannins, to this wine, which is unusual for a noveau. Lacks the depth and complexity of good cru Beaujolais. Like this.

In an in-between funk, still all good attributes color, acidity, weight, etc, but the flavors are evolving from fresh to complex. Needs a few months to resolve. Left half the bottle to try again tonite.
Much better the second night. Stored under vacuum. So it is in a reductive period. I will decant/aerate the next bottle.

Very different from past Beaujolais Nouveau I have had. This was deeper, darker, almost inky. It had the freshness of others, but I bet many drinking this would not realize it was a Nouveau. My experience with, say, a Georges Deboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau was totally different: thin, almost pink, a little effervescent, like it was squeezed out of a sponge. The Depeuble was none of that. This tasted good and was very satisfying for a Nouveau wine. Blackberries...dark fruits.

Out of funk and lovely, complex, so easy, so easy to finish. It will work nicelywhile waiting for the AOC 2022 to show up.
