Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 90.2 points

  • The wine is marked by its class, elegance, and unmistakable sense of place, yet it falls short of expectations once again for me. Somewhat thin, lacking the concentration that's often abundant in wines of this caliber (2005 Epenots comes to mind). Maybe my disappointment stems from the high expectations set by the BH's 93-point rating. ¯ \_(ツ)_/¯ Lovely, nevertheless

  • More delicate than the usual powerhouse Pommard, nose is full of sauvage, forest floor and petrichor with a whiff of alcohol. After a few minutes black cherry aromas and wood become present. The palate reinforces the forest floor and wet dirt aromas. Tannins have mellowed and are supple with a nice body and a silky finish with medium length. Mid-light body with medium acidity and light tannins. Drink now after a short decant.

  • Medium ruby red, garnet rim. Quite savoury aromas on first sniff, a touch of red fruit but more of an undergrowth and wet clay character. Becomes more ‘classically Pinot-y’ with time in the glass. Nicely poised with good acidity and enough tannin to keep it feeling nice and dry. Good.

  • Pale ruby coloured. This has a lovely ‘Pinot nose’, with aromas of red fruits, mushrooms, undergrowth and a nice lifted floral character. Nicely balanced on the palate, lots of acidity, the tannins are still there enough to keep everything nice and dry on the finish. Reasonably linear, not a huge amount of complexity, there’s a nice spicy note (from the oak?) on the finish. Via Coravin.

  • 2/2017 it did open up a little after 5-6 hours, but the wine never became the BH promises (92-94). This is well made, but lacks just about everything you’d expect from outstanding Pommard.
