Two hour decant. Very very deep magenta color. Blueberry, plum, and basil are the dominant notes. Smooth, dry palate, with great, pixelated, tongue coating acidity. Firm, full tannins on the long finish.
I love the structure of this Sonoma CS, but I don’t love the herbaceous character. Very well made, but not my style these days. Hard to believe they get such nice structure from “Sonoma County” Cab.
Another DVPalooza wine, brought to the table by Agelvis tonight fresh off the plane. As he alluded to in his note I think this one suffered from the travel. His note is spot on, not much more to add here other than it was better with food when you didn't notice the slight plastic note on the palate. Weird. Was also surprised by the shorter than normal finish but again, I think this one suffered more than some other bottles from the travel, mere hours before. The fruit at the very core of it is quite good. I'll hold my lone bottle of this at home for more aging, maybe a couple of more years.

Deer Valley Palooza in 3 stages with Mark1npt and Agelvis; 6/25/2023-7/1/2023 (8,100 ft): This was showing similar to the one I tried earlier this year. Brought by Jaime who did not appreciate it as much as I did. Not very open for business yet. Restrained res and dark fruit, bay leaf, green savory herbs. Very balanced just understated right now. Went very well with our steak dinner
One hour decant in giant Pirex measuring cup. Very deep dark electric magenta color. Cherry liqueur, bay leaf, and bubblegum. Smooth, dry palate. Firm, lower intensity tannins on the medium long finish.
Much worse than my last bottle a few months ago. There was a plastic aftertaste. Drank this is Deer Valley and had just gotten off a plane with it. Altitude and lack of time to equilibrate may be playing a role.
