  • Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. 100% organic, old vine single-vineyard Aglianico. Med ruby w/ a garnet rim. Nebbiolo-like. Med+ to pronounced dried roses, violets, ripe red cherries, wild herbs, licorice, leather and a touch of cedar from 24 mos. in very large oak casks. Dry, but w/ plenty of ripe red fruit, med+ acidity, tannins and alcohol (13.5%). The palate is consistent w/ the nose, w/ med+ body, flavor intensity and length. Very well integrated, well-balanced and complex, it is still very youthful and will benefit from a couple more years of aging. 93+

  • My fav Aglianico from the Slow Wine 2023 and one of my WOTN. I liked the whole line up from this producer. But best of the bunch, by far was the Damaschito 2018. With other producers, the more expense wines are often overwrought. The opposite here with this one which was floral, and animale, lean, light, volcanic, liquid mouth. Not unlike an elegant Mt. Etna. 91+ pts.
