Not sure what to think of this wine. The nose wasn't super clean and initially had an off-putting chemical smell that thankfully dissipated somewhat with air. The palate is cleaner with lots of minerals, citrus, and crushed rocks. Towards the end of the night, the wine became more enjoyable, but I much preferred the 2018 La-haut from a few weeks ago. Hopefully this was just not a representative bottle.

An interesting wine from Nicolas Jacob. It's the richness, buttery side here that I am not used to for the region. It's quite oxydative, not too much, but has that nuttyness on the nose. But the taste really has the butter of a Côte de Beaune wine. Very rich. Better pair with food. Less acid than the typical Jura chardonnay. Great wine though.

This is very good. My first experience of Nicolas Jacob wine, and true to terroir and tradition it tastes a lot like the Richter versions of Labet and Ganevat, maybe more the former. With 72 year old wines and 33 months of elevage, and 14% alcohol, this brings out the creamy lime, lemon and notes to go with the minty, mineral and cheesy notes. A little warm in the finish on higher temperature but overall a good if not perfect balance.
OK quality/price at 59 EUR from a caviste in France, if this would have been five years ago the price would have been half of what it was now, Jura prices on a steep rise as they are. You can argue that they were too cheap before, with the producer not earning enough for their trouble, especially for a wine with this long elevage and presumably low producing vines.

A "cult" wine tasting and lunch (Restaurant Bak, Amsterdam, NL): Ripe and rich style, dried apples, noticeable bitters, slightly difficult finish.
