While this was an excellent wine, like all the SQN wines that I have had so far, I was surprised that I had enjoyed the 2019 Sine Qua Non Grenache Distenta I more than this one.

This was insanely good (and accessible) from the start. Juicy raspberry, smokey black fruit, leather, mint…. It’s structured with good acidity but elegantly layered with a softness. I always drink these young and this is by far the best early Grenache I’ve had. At this stage the Syrah requires a long decant and patience. As advices both will be better in 20 years.

Decanted for three hours. This all encompassing wave of red fruit enters and ultimately takes over, showing smoked pork shoulder, with old world nuances of garrigue, rosemary, chiseled rock, bramble berries and red curry paste. Exceptionally long and flowing, with microfiber tannins and layer upon layer of stunning fruit. Amazingly complex, yet easily consumed with zero heat. Nay a flaw to be found. Absolutely legendary. The nose is red, but the palate gives way to noir fruit. Such an astounding study. My favorite Eleven Confessions since 2013. Drink 2026 -.
