Initially Coravined, and drunk from Riedel burgundy glass. Consistent with previous vintages in general....fruit perhaps not as sweet and generous as some years, with the sour cherry dominant, slight 'toffee apple' taste as well on the finish. Went well with roast ham and red cabbage, suitably Germanic! Remainder of bottle opened a few days later, and drunk out a smaller standard glass....seemed to lose the bouquet to a significant degree. Slightly bitter note to the finish. In summary, not the best bottle I've had of this but still a decent value example.

I gave this an hour's air first. It presents an agreeable nose but then hits you with a quite sour cherry palate. I agree with much of M&E's previous note, but I will add that the wife detected a hint of bitter chocolate here too. So, unless you are going to hold this for 5+ years, IMO, treat this like a Beaujolais and serve it a bit cool.
appearance: mid-ruby, clear nose: cherry, red fruits, slightest hint of barnyard, hint of herbaceousness palate: medium+ acidity; smooth, subtle tannins; sour cherry dominates, crushed, juicy berries with a hint of cola, a touch of tomato leaf; very good length.
Delicious

Corr. Sharp, bitter, and no pinot character at all. Second and last bottle. Good riddance.
