Rolled the dice on a staff pick at the wine shop and not loving it. Took advice below and decanted for a few hours before trying. Definitely has a funky nose, I think a little brett, C just thinks reductive (sometimes hard to distinguish, at least for me). It’s not going away though which really caps the enjoyment on the wine. Decent fruit, a little herbs, nice acidity. Even if the nose was better not sure I’d be loving it at the price.

Deep garnet or deep ruby. Funky nose. Maybe pepper or some other herbs. Light bodied, light tannins, medium to heavy acidity. This wine is really hard to decipher. It tastes like something I’ve had before but at the same time is really hard to make heads or tails of. The wine is aged in terracotta amohorae, which is apparent. There notes of clay and dried herbs. It’s Sicily in a bottle: harsh, hot, volcanic.

This is annoyingly reductive, but with enough air it comes around. Aromas of wild blueberry, cherry, dried orange peel, angostura bitters, dried flowers, grilled herbs, a little sea muck and struck match... On the palate it is juicy for a second, then very herbal and mineral, light tannic grip and refreshing acids make for an elegant profile, the fruit bounces back on the finish, nice crunchy berry tones linger. Give this a LOT of air to get the best out of it. Not sure about aging it... the reduction is a bit troublesome, but who knows, as it has great innate balance.

We liked the 2021 vintage much better! Neutral on it.

A little harsh spice up front at first. Settled down after a few hours. Light red fruit smooth taste after that but not much else going on.
