AW95. Deep, dark and brooding, magical burst on the nose on open then it settled down a little bit and thoroughly enjoyed over the course of the evening. My first Sloan second experience I think this is solid QPR, and a first glimpse of 2005 under the talent of winemaker Martha McClellan!

Decanted for 1 hour and it was ready to go. Despite the age it is showing nice fruit on the nose. In a pretty good place. I would guess that it has another 5 years ahead of it that would constitute a good drinking window. Now is as good a time as any in case you forget...

Aging well. Decanted for 2.5 hours. Took to restaurant and consumed with steak. Nose of dark fruit, chocolate and minerals. Finish was smooth. Seems to be integrating well. Still has a lot of life left in it. I will hold my last bottle for another 5-10 years.

A burly wine with a big finish. Lots of tanins and good structure. Hints of cab franc?

Decanted and served. Cherry, black pepper, and oak with chewy tannins.
