Tasted last in a 2001-2011 vertical: Massively funky nose, dark cherries, fig and leather. My only other time having this wine a few years ago was not like this, this wine is far more alive than it was then. In the mouth thi shows gentle texture with well balanced acidity and light dusty tannin. The fruit starts initially dark but turns into cranberry and grapefruit as the wine puckers slightly in the finish. Surprisingly youthful on the palate. Overall really nice but outclassed by the 2002 right before it. (this had a leaking cork but was not flawed)

Popped the cork, and tasted. Immediate pinot funk, which had me a bit concerned since we were tasting this alongside an Eyrie '02 pinot & a Beran '01. After letting breath for 30 minutes this wine really opened up. Cherry and black currant, w/a lithe elegance. Light tannins, very smooth mouth feel, and soft, lingering finish. Extremely tasty, and enjoyable. This bottle went very fast, among the six of us.

Port on the nose? Wild. Tastes older than it is. Really beautiful. Still has life left but feeling old for sure.
