  • Popped and poured. Drank over a 3 hour period. Unfortunately it was only mildly pleasurable for the first hour. After that it descended into a oaky, alcoholic mess. Initial scents of black cherry and plum. Sweet black fruit and toasted coconut on the palate. Very little subtlety to this wine, more designed to hit you over the head. Perfect example of a winery trying to make the style match the price. Would not purchase again.

  • Popped and poured. Glad I did not decant this as the wine improved quickly and then fell off of a cliff. Initially the nose reminded me of port. There was a distinct alcohol element along with dark chocolate covered dried cherries. The alcohol blew off in about an hour and the wine got really appealing for another hour. Flavors of pomegranate, cherry and vanilla. Then the wine fell apart into a oaky mess. Very little nose and the palate was like chewing on a 2x4. Though there was a very nice chunk in the middle, this is just too expensive for the pleasure provided. Would not purchase again.

  • Tasty but not exciting tonight. Nose was somewhat closed upon opening the bottle. Soft tannins and good (but simple) fruit flavors on the palate. Finish was nice and lasted a while. Expected more complexity from this wine. Not a good enough QPR to purchase again.

  • 2008 Taste of Washington (Qwest Field Event Center, Seattle): Very impressive new Washington state winery. I thoroughly enjoyed their Syrah and look forward to trying the cab. At the Taste of Washington they were pouring the Syrah and their proprietary red, the Cultivar. Very distinct big floral bouquet. Surprised how much I enjoyed this wine. Thick and viscous, good use of oak, candied red fruits but not overly fruity.
