    (100% Nerello Mascalese aus nördlichen Lagen auf 800m über Meer, die Parzelle ist die letzte überlebende Insel inmitten des Lavaflusses von 1981, eine halbe Hektare klein. Im Tonneaux und Barrique ausgebaut, 14% Alkohol) Mittleres Rubinrot. Expressive, komplexe Nase, Eukalyptus, Schwarztee, Herbstlaub, ein Hauch Lakritze, untelegt mit einer top Mineralik faszinierend, tiefgründig. Im Gaumen rund, kräftig, ein Wein mit Schmelz, Dichte, viel Konzentration, keinerlei Schwere, die Frucht ist knackig, das Holz ist gut verpackt, hier ist alles an seinem Platz. Sehr, sehr langer, mineralischer, top saliner Abgang, endet auf Süssholz reife, rote Früchte. Ein unglaublich konzentrierter und gleichzeitig finessenreicher Wein, der für eine lange Reife gebaut ist. Grosse Weine sind immer gross, das ist top. Bis 2040+.

    Opened in the bottle most of the day. Seemingly more acidic and tannic than the other Cru’s but also with more depth. Black plum, blueberry, smoke, mint, dark chocolate, and forest floor. Almost Northern Rhone like. These are really singular wines and the best in Sicily (if not all of Southern Italy).

    Comprehensive Tenuta delle Terre Nere (Chicago, IL): Exceedingly tannic and unapproachable right now, in contrast to most of the other wines today. Dark fruited and intense leathery tannins. Perhaps a bit less soulful (as I don't get much else besides structure) than the other wines, but I'm optimistic there's stuffing here for the future.
