Another brilliant wine from Aubert. Light yellow gold with a greenish hue. The nose bursts with yellow plum, grapefruit peel and banana. This is balanced with flint. There is some oak but everything else envelopes it so it seems more an accent than a main player. The palate is explosive and full with a richness / clarity equation that’s just wonderful. The mouth feel has an early maturity sense though I believe this will drink beautifully for years. Great stuff. Should be epic in 2026. (95+) Wow.

Buttery, oaky nose with notes of citrus, flowers, herbs, vanilla, and banana. Rich, opulent flavor with notes of orange marmalade and citrus. Long peachy finish. Crisp and well blended with a deep flavor. Really opened up after 2 hours of air, was slightly tight / closed and bitter at first. Drinking well now but clearly has a long life ahead.

Vinetasters: (mostly) 2010 Burgundy (Park Ridge, IL): Served double blind. White fruit, bright, and unmistakably chardonnay. A good amount of oak here, and a slight touch of reduction from it, as well as some bitterness on the finish. This had me thinking a very ripe vintage white Burgundy -- perhaps 2018? Quite impressed by this Aubert, I have to say -- might be the best chardonnay of theirs I've had yet. It seems the estate has corrected course?

Lol....offered as a 'palate break' by our host JimAronson tonight, as we tried to take a break from the big reds. Pnp'd tonight for us.
This bottle only further proves my point that you MUST drink your Aubert early in their lifespan. They simply DO NOT DO ANY BETTER with aging them. Had another Aubert '14 this past week that was very disjointed and past its prime for my palate. I used to think these needed to be consumed within 3-5 years, now I'm thinking within 2-3. This is a spectacular white wine. I don't give 95 or higher unless they are. This one is a mélange of vanilla, citrus, butterscotch and cream with bright crisp properties and freshness. Simply beautiful on the (Burgundy like)nose and the (Cali like) palate......thanks for opening this one for us, James!
Decanted two (2) hours. Rich gold in color w/slight haze. Threw some sediment. Displays aromas of white pear, red apple, lemon curd, mango, orange blossom and baking spice. Lovely texture on the palate as luscious fruit is joined with lively acidity and distinct minerality. Rewards with long lip-smacking finish. Delicious now but will undoubtedly drink well through the decade and beyond.
