HDH auction tasting at Tru; 12/12/2014-12/13/2014 (Chicago, IL): This has a bit of a lactic component to it which strikes me as really, really weird. Quite acidic and not much fruit, this is a really lean and restrained with some lychee and tart fruit notes. Not particularly interesting, but not bad either.

Restaurant purchase. Popped and poured. From memory this was special. Nose showed mature Riesling fruit and distinct minerality. On palate, this was in that creamy balanced zone where the RS and acid melt away leaving just mature Riesling fruit. Finish was medium and polished. Drank with a variety of amazing food at restaurant Naha and it matched each dish stride for stride. It held up for 1.5 hours no problem. If you have it give it a whirl....this is in a great spot right now.

Very soft cork. Pale straw in colour. On the initial nose, petrol, sulfur, and almonds, as well as a hint of floral character that seems to be waiting to be released. Otherwise, this has a very reticent nose. On the palate, there is a slight hint of the fire and brimstone. Again some floral notes as well, as well as notes of peaches and other yellow stone fruit. Very tense acidity, and a slightly alcoholic finish.

Quick TN: beautiful nose on this wine. The upfront fruit was very nice but then it fell off very quickly, lacking the acidity to keep it going.
