  • This was a very good bottle of wine all around. A fair bit of petrol on the nose, though not as much as I have seen in other 2002s. A lot of honey on the nose as well, with a bit of rainwater. The honey continues into the mouth, but it is coupled with an exceptional yet subtle and well-integrated minerality. That is the high point of this wine. The tiniest bit of herbal notes on the finish, which is a generally orange and honey affair. Pleasant. Fairly long. Generally well balanced experience overall.

Detractors: Not amazingly complex, won't blow your mind, and needs a touch more acidity to achieve perfect balance. Not having had it previously, I don't know if it once had this acidity but faded (likely), or if it lacked this perfect brightness from the beginning.

Would drink up in the next year if you are holding onto it. Definitely a classic Max Ferd. Richter value wine.
