  • A touch odd. More herbal than fruit driven. My recollection is that is was always that way.

  • I believe this wine's best years have past. No tasting note recorded, but I do recall the intensity of fruit was diminished leaving a rather flat a less interesting wine.

  • Wow, nearly three years since the last CT TN on this. So this is certainly past the nominal tasting window on this, but I suspect I like it as much or more than if I'd have had it a 2 or 3 years ago, just given my experience with other Kilikanoons (which has been positive). Dark brownish red with a good bit of variation indicative of aging. The fruit is as if it has been slowly simmered and reduced in a pot for a long time, but there are lovely herbal, soft tanned hide, and even garrigue characteristics. This is quite full bodied, substantial weight on the palate still with a touch of heat, but really has a lot of character.

Really how I'd characterize this wine is it is like an old dog. One you know, one that doesn't have the get up and go like it once did, not sprightly, not much of a bark or bite, but cuddly, still easy to see everything it once had, secure in itself, settled in, a couple of bald spots, and carrying a stately bearing. No way I would have been as lucky if I'd have only had this as a pup.

  • A very good but typical Aussie wine, with blackberry, cassis, and roasted meats on the nose, but, with the alcohol, seems a bit like cough syrup. The mouth is berries and smoke.

  • I liked this wine's big, intense dark fruit, licorice, mint, spices, rich pallette, and chewy tannins. However, it was hot and had lots of rough edges. On day two it had smoothed out a bit and was more enjoyable.
