SL Birthday Dinner: Served a little cold at first. Lovely nose with great intensity like it jumped out of the glass. Ripe on the palate with good acid and freshness.

Not oxidised, however a touch too advanced perhaps. Reasonable intensity and minerality but not quite a chevalier from the top drawer. A bit too honeyed and slightly heavy on the palate.

DRC Superbowl (Phoenix, AZ): From magnum. Brilliant honey finish follows terrific minerality on the midpalate, this was Montrachet quality. Exquisite depth, absolutely delicious.

From magnum. Very fine quality here, but young. Gained some complexity with a couple of hours, but the fruit and minerality were apparent from first sip. A "user friendly" style of Burgundy with wide appeal. Not good enough to make me forget the Cardinals loss, though. B
