It is always a treat to open a Scheu made by Klaus Peter Keller. This newly released trocken version was no exception. Initially this showed more linear high toned fruit boasting plenty of acid. But the fruit quickly changed and become delicious notes of golden gooseberries and tangy tangerines. This was so so fine and showed a wonderfully mineral edge that was both flinty and savory. Not at all a classic pairing but this was great at the dinner table with Modena style slow cooked pork chops in tomato and sage with polenta.
