translucent light but bright ruby colour (almost like a red) and medium-plus body. fragrant nose of fresh tarragon and mint, raspberries and strawberries, flowering damask roses and white blossoms, and hints of pear and grapefruit. rich and full in the mouth, there is a cherry liqueur-like intensity on entry that fleshes out into layers of fresh berry laced with the herbal accents and mineral accents. there is good structure and acidity but in such balance already… one has to think about them! long finish with good hints of the complexity to come.
dry, balanced, complex, gastronomic, and young (accessible too!), but one to lay down for a couple of years and enjoy for a handful more after that.
14% AbV; 45% Grenache/ 30% Mourvèdre/ 5% Cinsault/ 20% mixed other varieties that include (Syrah, Castet, Manosquin, Carignan, Muscat); fermented in small foudres and racked to neutral oak barriques for ageing on the lees until the following spring.

Grenache 45%, mourvèdre 30%, cinsaut 5%, "secondary" varieties 20% including syrah, castet, manosquin, carignan, various muscatel. Bottle No: 12520.
My first Palette (of any colour) and on first opening I wasn't very impressed - the nose is big sweet red fruit (very ripe strawberries primarily) but the palate follows with sweetness bordering on candy with little else to balance it.
However, what this needs is air: after 20-30 minutes things have settled down and come into a much better balance. The nose has a wild strawberry note to it as well as a bit of sweetness. The palate now has a complexity of red fruits (still with a hint of sweetness, but now not in any way candied or cloying), and just a slight herbal edge, balanced with moderate acidity, and with just a touch of tannin towards the finish.
So now it's a rather nice rosé which is going well with some guacamole etc.
But having said that, for me there's no wow factor to justify a a price of over US$55.
