Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 89.5 points

  • As my note of March 7.
I presented this at a group blind tasting and the score averaged a smidgen under 90. I have therefore rated it at this level with this additional agreement from a much wider group.

  • It settled down over a couple of hours and was impressive. Deep colour with good fruit and some spice on the fragrant nose. A rich plate with dark cherry and damson fruits and with spice developing in the glass. Plenty of acidity and tannin (the initial tannic edge softened in the glass) but well balanced. With time, we found hints of chocolate and liquorice in the very long, complex palate.
The balance was good, making the wine an excellent partner with food but very pleasurable on its own after the meal. A big wine but well structured; it is very rewarding now although I think it has plenty of time ahead to develop further. (89+ now but this will rise with more time, I think.)
Note. It was excellent next day.
