Lay & Wheeler South Africa tasting. Brief Notes: Zippier and fresher than the more powerful Skaliekop alongside it. There’s still that citrus and yellow fruit. The intensity is there too but a lovely saline character runs through the whole palate. Really liked this.

Lay & Wheeler South Africa tasting (Glazier's Hall): Serious stuff. Salty, rocky, deeply complex nose. Beautifully three-dimensional and delineated mineral and pure lemon, ripe green apple notes. Superb balance and concentration. Medium body, muscular fresh acidity, great length. Top class.

Beautiful nose, petroleum and summer fruits, really bold, hint of butter. Smooth on the palate, low to medium acidity, more body and focused around the mid palate. Shorter finish than the drier Plat'bos. Would expect residual sugar to be high. Delicious but I'd probably ruin in with ice.
