Quite pale, a fairly transparent purplish ruby. Very primary and giving nose which offers a lot of ripe darker fruit, cranberry laced chocolate, coffee cake, and some slightly burnt notes. Medium bodied with a fairly plush flavour profile which comes across as rather sweet (feels like a touch of RS). Balanced by some acidity and tannin, though it’s extremely approachable and I’m not sure I can imagine it improving much with age. I was expecting this to be a bit of a bruiser but it’s really quite elegant, especially when served slightly cool.
