This is an extraordinary wine and I am sad to say this was my last bottle. The color was deep cold. There was a pronounced bouquet that filled the room when the wine was opened. The flavor was deep fruit with a touch of sweetness. There was some oak backbone but subtle. All in all this was a very well balanced delightful to drink wine.

A bit flat, lower acid, smooth and almost plush, not very interesting, lacks spine, character. Side by side with Reichsgraf von K. Piesporter '06. lackluster vintage, this is pretty much tired, drink up.

Blind at home: Gold-yellow; nectarine notes, red apple, slight baked note with hints of tropical fruits (pineapple, guava) and honey; limestony minerals, white flowers-freesia; just off dry med. weight and concentration and roundness with exotic notes and slight ginger/fruitcake notes; slight overripe fruits; high acidity but only in the back end. Ripe vintage shows. Guessed Alsace gewurtz, but not aromatic enough (no roses, clove, musk), and acid too high without the waxy rich body and strong phenolics in the end.

Waxy, soft, pear, soft ripe pear, quince, oily, rocky limestone minerals. Makes think was this a Pinot gris?
